Calculating the Best Footballer

I first came across the Castrol Index when I watched this Arsene Wenger interview (part 1, part 2). He has been known for using empirical methods for squad selection.
The Castrol Index for each match are weighted and added up into Rankings. In brief, the Castrol Rankings is similar to the ATP Rankings for tennis players.
